100 Mbps internet connections
Construction of the new Ultra Fast Broadband (UFBB) fibre infrastructure is expected to start in 2020. The fibre optic networks will be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP), which is expected to be completed in 2022 before going live. It has a budget of $700 million in public funding, with $300 million coming from the government.
In a world that is threatening to become more connected every day, all citizens and businesses should have the opportunity to connect using high-speed broadband. This project will create over 2 million connections, over 75% not just in Europe but also in countries like Spain, Italy and Poland.
Ten companies from different sectors of the economy expressed interest in participating in the call for participation of the “competitive dialogue” of Ministry of Digital Governance. As a matter of procedure, the competitive dialogue applies to infrastructure projects such as the UFBB. At state level there is particular enforcement. It’s supported by legislation enacted in response to a European Union Directive.
In an emerging field like engineering and architecture, the marketplace for ideas is shrinking, which can make finding success difficult & risky. That’s why it’s critical that you issue invitations to dialogue as soon as possible – in order to find the best solutions for your project.
The following companies have expressed an interest in participating in the procedure
- Grid Telecom Sole Proprietorship Limited Company,
- Oman Fiber Optic SAOC,
- Vodafone Panafon Hellenic Telecommunications Company Limited,
- Wind Hellas Telecommunications Commercial and Industrial Limited Company,
- Avax Construction Company, a tourism, tourism, commercial, industrial, building materials and machinery contractor,
- Public Electricity Company Limited Company,
- Intracom Construction Joint Stock Company, Technical Works and Metal Construction Joint Stock Company,
- Mytilineos Group of Companies,
- Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation of Greece, Inc,
- TERNA Energy Industrial Industrial Commercial Technical Company S.A.
