Europeans watch TV online

Europeans watch TV online | European tv viewers’ preferences

European negotiators reached a political agreement on the proposed copyright legislation for broadcasting programs. The new rules will make it easier for European broadcasters to make certain programmes available on live or deferred TV over the internet; at the same time, they will simplify the distribution of more radio and TV stations through broadcasters. Broadcasters are increasingly offering their broadcasts on the Internet today. However, they’re often not available in other countries besides the one you originally come from, even if there’s a high level of interest in them.

The European Union‘s new legislation is a step in the right direction for creating a fully functioning digital market. 41% of Europeans are watching TV on the internet at least once a week. This figure is higher among young people, with 50% of Europeans aged 15-24 years old online at least every week for TV purposes. In addition, 19% of Europeans aged 15-45 watch TV series and films on online services. The new rules will benefit not only those who watch TV over the internet, but also Europe’s citizens that were born in an EU country and live on another.
