Korean Tech Giant Samsung’s birthday | Techday, March 1st
On this TECHDAY in history, on March 1st 1938, Samsung was founded by Lee Byung-Chul. At first the business traded noodles, textiles, insurance and other goods and exported them to China and the provinces. During the time of Korea’s recovery from the war, the company turned its focus to industrialization. Samsung first entered the electronics industry in 1969 and has since developed and traded many electronic products (eg. television sets, telephones, smartphones/watches etc). Since Samsung’s birthday, it has grown to the largest South Korean chaebol, meaning a business conglomerate.
Fun fact, during the 1970s the company even entered the shipbuilding industries. Alongside the electronics manufacturing division, it would drive Samsung to substantial growth. Through the years, the Samsung brand acquires various affiliates for Heavy Industries, Engineering, Construction, even Insurance! The corporation holds a steady top world position on brand value and share market value. Furthermore, even the affiliated businesses have met subsequent success being in world’s top 20 companies in allocated divisions aforementioned. Amazing!
