NeXT Computer launch | Steve Jobs and his team release the Cube | Techday, October 12th
On this TECHDAY, on October 12th 1988, Steve Jobs and the NeXT team unveiled in San Francisco the first computer of the company he founded immediately after leaving Apple in 1985. It was the NeXT Computer, which because of its shape also came to be known as “Cube”. It was designed to meet the 3M (Megabyte, Megapixel, MIPS) specification, as defined in the 1980s at Carnegie Mellon University, as the minimum specification for an educational workstation.
