Whiskey Lake and Amber Lake processors
Intel has announced Whiskey Lake (U series) and Amber Lake (Y series) processors. These Intel 8th gen CPUs are designed for use in laptops and other thin and light devices.
The “Amber Lake” Y-series processors are the i7-8500Y, i5-8200Y, and m3-8100Y. This represents the next step up from what Apple currently uses in its 12-inch MacBooks.
The new Whiskey Lake i7-8565U, i5-8265U, and i3-8145U processors can work well with the yet to be released MacBook Air. It’ll come with a Retina Display and we don’t know when it’s going to release or how much it’ll cost.
Intel’s processors
Intel’s new processors are better at connecting us and helping us get more done. The Intel U series supports speeds up to 12 times faster than previous generations and allows you to use Alexa. The Intel U series also has greater data transfer speeds, supporting second-generation USB 3.1 data transfers and the ability to use Cortana while using Gigabit Wi-Fi. The Y series (Amber Lake) will be an upgraded model of the X series and will feature a huge improvement in performance. The new processors are made from different materials, so it’ll provide twice the performance. Autonomy will also be improved on this update, so you can spend more time away from your laptop.
Intel stresses that if we compare a five-year-old personal computer with the new U series processors, the new processors will double performance in every process we perform. They have high-end features like Intel Thermal Velocity Boost which provides an outstanding level of CPU performance.
There are benefits to using these processors as they offer more autonomy compared to previous models. Intel’s U series processors allow laptops up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge and up to 10 hours of autonomy.
Recently, Intel announced that its new Whiskey Lake and Amber Lake processors will be available this fall. It’s really hard to tell how they’ll stack up until they go through the natural testing process.
