
NVIDIA brings the end of 32-bit
NVIDIA has announced that the next update of their graphics drivers will be the last to support 32-bit systems. Version 390 is on the way, with no clear date as to when it’s released, but expect it in January 2019. Software installed on PCs that is not 64-bit only yet still has many 32-bit and 16-bit applications. This move can cause problems for older systems but nothing drastic has happened yet.
Please update your software to avoid security problems. A recent and highly publicized example was the WannaCry attack which exploited a vulnerability in 32-bit Windows. If you are running an older version of software, it would be best to start thinking about upgrading now. Intel has announced that they will be discontinuing BIOS compatibility by 2020, which will be necessary for them to produce hardware compatible with the latest software.
