Ability to change Viber number
Now that Viber has formally announced this update and is preparing for its release, users will no longer have to worry about changing the number associated with their account also impacting their chat history. This offers a lot of benefits that are great for those who use the app a lot or like talking on it often.
With the v.7.3 update now, users can restore their data in case they have to change their number again later on. Arguably, this is a useful update now that you don’t even have to manually create an account if you’re switching your phone number back and forth.
There are two options for you: if you are changing just the phone number, select New Phone Number. If you want to change the device paired with your IMEI number, select New Device.
If you want to save your conversations, contacts, stickers and your followers so that it is easier to share or transfer on a different device, then you need to choose the “Copy whats in my Viber” function. This will also allow you to access it through the “Viber Backup” function which will make sure that your files are backed up safely in Google Drive.
It’s important to finish uploading your old device’s content before moving the SIM card from it to your new phone. Be aware that Viber will transfer all of your friends’ contact information for you.
