Android’s Fast Share

There’s already a smart way to share data between Android devices, the Android Beam. This was Google’s attempt to do something similar to Apple’s AirDrop. Android Beam allows transfer of data between devices by way of NFC. Very soon though, in Q release will go further.

Beam belongs to tha past. Android ‘Fast Share’ will now be another option for sharing files, texts and other data in a different way that includes using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

This new app is similar to the one already available in Google’s Files app, the Sharing Hub. Most things now happen on your devices, and you may find yourself with a mix of platforms to make sure that your data is safe. That’s why the new service has onboard cloud storage providers as Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive. This means that it will be integrating its services seamlessly into their existing footprint. Fast Share Android is a convenient way to share content on your device. Simply head to the “Shared Items” folder and then go to “Settings, Google,Fast Share.” Google’s new sharing feature will work on Android devices, Chromebooks, iPhones and smartwatches.

Android’s newest app, Fast Share, is great for sharing files with nearby devices not connected to the internet. Please make sure you both have Bluetooth and Location services enabled on your devices. There’s no complicated setup required – all you need to do is enter a name for your device and enable Fast Share in order to see available nearby devices. Sending someone something is easy now with this app, which will send a message to them when you want, and they’ll be able to accept or reject it. They’ll also see a prompt so there is no confusion.

You can also give “Preferred Visibility” status to people you frequently connect with on Fast Share. This feature allows them to keep track of your device, even if you’re not using this service.

The most recent rumors say that Fast Share will launch with Android Q, but may not be limited to the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. It’s possible that Fast Share will be released on a wide range of devices.
