Apple and Google partner for COVID-19 contact tracing platform
Apple and Google want to collaborate on the coronavirus because it’s just too difficult for them to stay competitive. Not much is known besides it’s a joint announcement between the two companies and they’re creating a COVID-19 contact tracing platform for both iOS and Android.
This could only mean that Apple and Google will work together to create a better healthcare infrastructure. It’s always good to hear when you’re working with a company that is willing to help you advance your career.
They have created a plan to integrate across their platforms. The plan is to first incorporate it at the OS level with strong privacy protections in place. These protections will then allow the companies to move ahead with integration of APIs, which are a more technical solution designed for software developers.
Companies will use Bluetooth for contact tracking to automatically create a detailed list of interactions when you’re in range. The authorities will be able to quickly identify which other people have been in contact with the patient and prevent the contagion from spreading.
