Apple adjusts the sound based on your location

Apple adds audio based on your place

When you sit in front of your computer, the speakers are right in front of you and it’s easy to adjust the volume.

Apple has some plans up its sleeve for the future that we’re excited about. They just filed a patent for making their Macs more aware of how you use your computer in a room. It will eventually make life easier for everyone.

For example, if you’re sitting close to the computer, the volume can automatically lower. If you move away, however, it will also automatically increase. Understanding that you’re not nearby, it needs this extra input.

While the sound of your assistant can adapt in many different situations, like when you’re having a group video call and trying to hear what the other people are saying, it is only able to do so based on how active its listening environment is. Positioning and adjusting microphones is also a big consideration in smaller venues. They are needed to prevent feedback or to focus on the person speaking without having to shout over the noise of the crowd.

We agree that the idea sounds good and worth exploring, but right now it is only a patent, which lacks clarity as to if & when it will be implemented.
