Apple Watch makes satellite calls
Bloomberg is sharing a report that Apple is planning on releasing an Apple Watch with LEO connectivity this fall. In the past, it was rumored for the iPhone 13 to include the functionality, but it’s unclear if that will happen now.
This would allow it to send short messages to emergency contacts over satellite networks and without going through a carrier. However, this did not happen. Bloomberg reports that the feature could roll out with this year’s iPhone 14 series. While Apple has not yet announced a release date, the company plans to bring this feature to the Apple Watch. Satellite connectivity provides many benefits, including the ability to send “Emergency Message via Contacts” that will allow users to send short, text messages via satellite network when cellular signal is unavailable.
Secondly, it will allow users to report any kind of crisis to the relevant authorities. It’s not yet clear how the feature will work in different countries and what regulations, if any, it will comply with. But it’s definitely something that you’ll want to keep an eye on in the future!
As announced, now Apple Watch makes satellite calls! The company, though, is constantly producing products with the latest tecnhology. You can continue reading here.
