Beware of new malware | Security breaches
Malicious internet users and fraudsters are always on the lookout for software that can invade computers and block files. With so many of them out there, law enforcement draws to them. There has been a statement issued by the Department of Cybercrime that informs people about online security breaches associated with various malicious software packages
Certain malware versions are seeming to spread in popularity, prompting the concern of their intentions. Ransomware-Cryptoware is an emerging case or malicious software. This has been appearing online just recently, under the name “JNEC.”. It is rather interesting, both in terms of the method of deceiving Internet users and the way with which to obtain the decryption key.
JNEC is an email attachment, sent by someone else in order to infect a system. It’s a virus or malware. It can spread through emails and spread from computer to computer along with other attachments like .exe files. The JNEC email exploits security vulnerabilities in files like PDFs, EXEs, and images.
The Cybercrime Unit advises citizens to not open unknown messages and to copy files to external hard drives in the event of a ransomware infection. In fact, they often ask for “ransom” to give the decryption key, even though never required.
