Bug in VPN services

VPNs have become widespread, popular and are used for a variety of uses. Sometimes we need to keep things in mind before we put them in place. That especially is true when there are risks involved. There are also vulnerabilities that might put the security of a business at risk.

A particular bug from Cisco, Palo Alto Networks and Pulse Secure has allowed hackers to break in into the networks. They also steal cookies which are used to access sites that normally require a username and password. Cookies are typically not a security risk in most cases, but like any other personal data, they can be vulnerable with certain settings.

It’s hard to imagine such a bug being able to compromise security, but certain companies take extra precautions against such risks. VPNs are critical in keeping businesses safe and secure. If someone’s computer is infected with malware and they use a VPN to lock down their connection, then the hacker will be able to access the unencrypted cookies and potentially penetrate their VPN too.
