How can you find out an email compromised?
With the rise of digital intruders breaching databases, it’s crucial that you upgrade your security software. This way, you can keep track of who has access to your data and interactions with them. Itβs especially important as these digital intruders sell confidential information for low prices on the dark web after breaking into servers.
Security breaches are becoming more and more common online. The past years have brought breaches to sites like LinkedIn, MySpace, and Dropbox. In these three cases, intruders have collected details of more than 550 million accounts and are now available for anyone interested.
Haveibeenpwned.com allows you to see if an email you use regularly was compromised in a data breach and what site it is associated with. Very commonly the bad habit of using the same password wherever they are creates problems of account exposure. That’s one of the unfortunate consequences of malicious actors stealing access to accounts. The more credentials they steal, the more vulnerable you are to even bigger attacks on your digital life. This tendency to have just one username and password leads to major issues, as credentials theft. That person might end up having access to all of your digital content.
It doesn’t matter how many passwords someone has. If one of them falls into the wrong hands, especially used to access any and all accounts, the user will encounter problems. His data can end up sold on the black market. All that matters is to use credentials that an intruder can’t guess. For example, someone’s date of birth for instance would be easy to guess the correct details.
The search engine in question is an initiative of Troy Hunt, a Microsoft exec from Australia. Naturally, this not only contains information on hundreds of database breach attacks over the last years but also hosts sensitive data from Hunt’s own personal dealings.
