Work at home due to coronavirus

Emergency measures are being taken due to the spread of the virus in D.C. Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Facebook are now recommending their employees to work from home in Washington state if possible. More than 180 people have been infected with the first big coronavirus strain in the US.

So far the Us marks 12 confirmed deaths from Covid-1. From the total,ย  11 deaths come from Washington state and one from California. This means that the city has been put under a state of emergency.

“We recommend that our employees who are able to work from home do so by March 25,” Kurt DelBini Microsoft executive vice president Kurt DelBini said.

“These measures will guarantee our safety and will also make our offices safer for those who need to be there.”

The company is headquartered in Richmond, which is a suburb of Seattle.

Amazon made the same recommendation to their Seattle-based employees as “end of month.”

Workers at Google were also urged to work remotely

In San Francisco, Lyft, a personal transportation service platform, who asked its employees to stay at home on Thursday after being told that one of them might have been in contact with someone infected with the new coronavirus

The employee in question is not showing symptoms, but “we are acting on CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) recommendations and as a precautionary measure we are asking our San Francisco employees to work from home for the remainder of the week,” the company said.

On Sunday, Twitter announced that it was “taking the utmost precautions”, and therefore “recommends that all of its employees around the world work from home if they can.”
