On the occasion of the major cyber attacks in the US, executives of major technology companies held a meeting. Representatives from companies such as Google, Amazon and Apple, on software security, gathered on Thursday 13/1/2022 at the White House. Cyberattacks discussed at the White House and representatives from tech giants stressed many issues.
Google’s proposal was to focus on the prevention of certification and protection of programs involving open source software.
The president of global relations and head of the legal department said that there is a need for a public-private partnership in the US to properly allocate funds and personnel regarding open source software projects.
He also stressed that although the global community considers open source software to be safer, it is not. The identification of whether it poses a systemic risk to cyber security, therefore need new ways of identifying software auditing. Finally, he highlighted the need for more investment from both the public and private sectors.
