Data Protection Capabilities

Dell EMC is proud to announce a new and upgraded Data Domain and IDPA portfolio of backup storage appliances. These new products give you real-time decisions and flexibility while becoming more affordable. The enhancements allow mid-sized organizations and remote workforces in some larger enterprises to get access to enterprise-level data protection.

If you are considering a move to the cloud, it is important to remember that it involves a lot of preparatory work. You also need to know if you want your data saved privately or shared with other people. More than half of them have adopted a multi-cloud software as a service approach. Cloud-based solutions are a lot of different types and it’s important that you find one which can easily store your data in a wide range of applications to make your life easier. And with every solution, there is a risk for compliance and security. According to IDC research, the number 1 IT transformation shortcoming that pertains to data protection is the need for support between clouds. Dell EMC recognizes this challenge and is continually improving the data protection it builds to help customers reduce risk and protect their most valuable asset – their data – in multi-cloud environments.

Multi-cloud capabilities

Data Domain OS 6.2 and IDPA 2.3 now provide you with more options for protecting your data in the cloud. It includes expanded Cloud Tier support for Google Cloud Platform and Alibaba Cloud Platforms, resulting in increased flexibility. These features ensure the storage of your data with maximum levels of safety and efficiency. The features work in addition to existing support for AWS, Microsoft Azure, Dell EMC Elastic Cloud Storage and Virtustream  Also, the new Free-space Estimator Tool for Cloud Tier helps manage capacity more efficiently to reduce costs for on-premises storage and cloud storage.

Dell EMC is adding support for DD VE to Area 51, GovCloud and Azure Government Cloud. Amazon S3 and Azure hot blob storage platforms recieved technical support for some time now, but AWS Snowball is a relatively new addition to the family. Bursting at seams and doubling its capacity in 2019, the VE DD service is giving customers the “benefit” of having the same level of protection across different clouds.

In the event of a disaster or data breach, we have a native cloud-based backup recovery solution for you to use. Backing up your data will give you peace of mind and make restoring it much less costly in the event of a major failure. With Disaster Recovery as a Service, you’ll have the peace of mind in knowing that your data is safe and can be recovered at any time. You can also bring your data back to public clouds easily and recover quickly after a disaster. Data Domain and IDPA have teamed up with AWS. All of their models now work with AWS for cloud infrastructure and disaster recovery.

Data Systems

Today, organizations have plenty of comfort as companies such as Dell and EMC provide them with modern, user-friendly interfaces that simplify administrative control. For example, data administrators most easily control heterogeneous Dell and EMC environments by using the K1000 System Management Platform software – through a single management environment with the Data Domain Management Center.

The IDPA family of updates now provide better performance than ever before with instant access and restore. This has led to improved caching and a rise in input and output per second (IOPS), so you’ll be able to get up to 40,000 IOPS with delays of just 20 milliseconds.

Data Domain systems also store data more securely than on-premises solutions: they make better use of caching and snapshots. They can also do rollbacks faster as well as offer quicker recalls from cloud infrastructures. with these upgrades, organizations can now be relieved with the ability to restore their data from Data Domain systems 2.5 times faster and recall their data 4 times faster from the cloud to Data Domain systems. This allow for meeting more stringent service delivery deadlines. It also prevents any possible data loss or damage caused by hurricanes or heavy rainfall.

Choice and scalability are critical elements for smaller, mid-sized organizations in need of enterprise-level cloud data protection. Along with cloud and performance updates, the Data Domain DD3300 comes with hardware enhancements. DD3300 is a 2U system designed specifically for mid-sized organizations and larger enterprises with remote offices. The DD3300 now offers an 8TB capacity model. It can be scaled and grown in the same location, up to 32TB. Also, the DD3300 offers faster networking capabilities. It supports connections up to 10GbE and extended options for backup to virtual tape libraries. By that meaning, virtual tape libraries (VTL) using Fiber Channel. These options provide mid-sized organizations with a cloud-based data protection solution that can be deployed in parallel with business needs.

Statements of support:

“As an industry leader in data protection, Dell EMC commits to providing continuous innovation in its data protection portfolio. It supports and enhances our customers’ adoption of multi-cloud environments.” Beth Phalen said, president of Data Protection from Dell EMC. “The systems are robust, easy to manage, and facilitate expansion into public clouds with capabilities inherent in the cloud.”

“Our long-standing relationship with Dell EMC has yielded multiple successes for our business. We have saved money, gained greater efficiency and faster backups and restore times with Dell EMC Data Domain and IDPA.” John McFall commented, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Technology Group, Security Service Federal Credit Union. “These results, combined with the fact that our data is secure, allows me to not worry at night.”

“Data protection initiatives are a fundamental part of many organisations’ digital transformation efforts through to 2020.” Phil Goodwin said, Research Director of IDC. “Systems designed for backup have become a cornerstone of efforts to improve data availability. Example of these systems are Dell EMC Data Domain and Integrated Data Protection Appliance. They provide faster backup with fewer instances of failure than other data protection options. Most importantly, they support faster data recovery in cases where loss directly impacts an organization’s financial health.”
