Disturbing rape scandal on dating apps
Convicted rapists were allowed to use apps to find victims. There should be a way that they can protect their own victims by asking their victim if they would like services such as this.
Match Group has a growing empire that includes the #1 Dating App, Match, Tinder and OkCupid among others.
And as it turns out, what might be going on with the apps is very distressing. They seem to be completely accessible by anyone, granting access to those convicted of crimes like the one mentioned.
Though the study by ProPublica suggests a lot of these instances were at bars, it doesn’t mean they’re not happening at other places like dating sites. So you should take caution and be conscious of your surroundings.
Unfortunately, this study found that dating apps don’t have any sort of verification system in place to make sure that the data being submitted by users is up-to-date. As Match stated, they don’t do it not only because it’s an expensive process, but also because it’s unreliable.
Dating on the internet is not always anonymous and easy. Some users do not willingly offer up their personal information, making it hard to protect them from scams or identity theft.
This is the big issue when it comes to dating apps. If you want to change this at all, then the necessary solutions are varied and based on technology. The fact that these solutions exist means that you have safe dating without a hitch-up. The rape scandal is quite disturbing..
