Robot nurse for coronavirus patients
As Egypt is experiencing a second wave of deadly coronavirus, inventor Mahmut el-Komi is testing a remote-controlled robot in the workplace that can examine patients, check their temperature and “warn” them if they don’t wear masks. El Comi Co is designing a Cira-03 robot and test it in a private clinic in the north of Cairo to limit people’s exposure to coronavirus. The invention could prevent transmission.
The robot has an arm that extends into patients’ mouths. Easily seen, the arm has a stylet attached to it, allowing doctors to insert dental instruments and examine the mouth cavity.
Already built with an array of advanced tools for diagnosing different maladies and providing patients with quick accurate readings, the AI automatically does simple tasks like reading your blood tests, cardiograms, and X-rays. The 3D chest is all the more easier to browse through in comparison to a typical flat monitor.
“I tried to make the robot look more human, so that patients wouldn’t be afraid of it. So that they don’t feel that a robot is going to hurt them,” explains el-Comi
Patients responded well to the image of the robot, not being afraid of it. The inventor believes we’ll all trust machines more because they are accurate than people are.
Automated thermometers are useful for measuring various things, like the temperature of an arid room or the weight of something. But why not use them in a hospital as well? Here’s how this hospital is using robot solutions to check patients aren’t contracting coronavirus.
