Electronic work card
A draft law will pave the way for the implementation of the electronic work card and digital working hours. The Ministry of Labour expectedly will submit the draft to the Parliament in November. A scientific working group has set up at the Ministry of Labour. Their aim is to study the proposals of the social partners and come up with institutional and technical changes to the “Ergani” system. The the new integrated information system “Ergani II” will be a breakthrough. The Minister of Labour Yannis Vroutsis particularily praised this system. Many are, as estimated, the improvements in the relationship between the state, businesses and employees, while supporting the new competitive trajectory of the Greek economy.
The forthcoming legislative initiative on the “Ergani II” system will be based on the following priority axes:
Developing and integrating new digital functionalities into the system, such as digital time and work card.
- Drastic simplification and change in design philosophy with a core focus on the unification of individual functions and user instructions.
- Codification and simplification of relevant legislative and regulatory content (laws, regulations and circulars) for better implementation of legislation.
- Strengthening the operational and analytical capabilities of the system. Provide comprehensive information to social partners, research centres and the State.
- Improve its interoperability with other critical state databases, in particular those of the EFKA and the AADE and, consequently, further exploit it as a tool for designing rational and efficient public policies to stimulate employment, control the labour market and radically address pathogenic behaviours such as undeclared, under-declared and uninsured work.
Effectively protect workers’ rights and reduce compliance costs for employers.
According to Mr Vroutsis, the dialogue with the social partners has been completed and a working group committee has already been set up to process the proposals submitted.
