End of an era for Google

End of an era for Google

Despite being successful, the new era for Google will likely struggle given the departure of its cofounders. Alphabet has not yet replaced their “legendary” leadership into making a positive impact on the company.

It’s the end of an era for Google which follows in line with the farewell of its 44-year-old co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The tradition of leaving their present company began with Larry who skipped Alphabet to become CEO of new tech companies.

Despite these changes, they have agreed to remain on BoD and will continue controlling vote shares – so don’t worry about AI taking over the company. Sundar Pichai will take over as the company’s CEO and is also still president at Google. His tenure as CEO at Alphabet will be brief, but he is a powerful, prolific leader who owns over 1% of the shares.

Alphabet was created in 2015 as part of a restructuring of Google, which was founded by Page and Brin in 1998. Pinchai moved from Google to Alphabet in 2018, but has decided to now give up executive duties and hand them over to Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

In an open letter, Google’s founders have said that Google has grown to the point where there is no need for them to manage it directly. They will remain involved as shareholders, board members and co-founders but they suggest simplifying management by adding a CEO. “Alphabet and Google no longer need two CEOs and a chairman.” After pointing out, they add. “Take on the role of proud parents, offering advice and love, but not day-to-day encouragement.” They stress that “there is no better person” than Pinchai to now take the reins of the entire group.

The Indian engineer studied at the US universities of Stanford and Pennsylvania before joining Google in 2004. They then moved on to the development of other services and products. They became famous for their work on the Chrome web browser. According to the BBC and Reuters, the engineer stated. “The founders gave all of us an incredible opportunity to make our mark on the world”. Eagerly he added. ” Now we’ll see where we go from here, continuing the journey with all of you”.

Many countries and organizations are partnering with Google to provide AI writing assistants in every app and website. Roadblocks, though, could arise. Governments around the world and civic organizations are insecure about how this innovation will impact their employment. Other insecurities include cases from tax avoidance and free competition violations to the abuse of users’ personal data.
