End for PS3, PSP and PS Vita Stores

With no official announcement made, but expecting one by the end of the month, Sony announced that the PS3, PSP and PS Vita Stores will not be available after the summer. Sony decided to pull the plug on their support. Concurrent PS3 and PSP will discontinue on July 2 and the PS Vita Store on August 27. From then on, no new titles or DLC for games in the above categories will be available on the digital content market. In a physical store, however, these will still be available after the stores close.

One very important thing to note is that, users won’t be able to re-download purchased games they deleted from the hard drives after these dates. Some tough choices PS3 users must make, what to keep downloaded and what to essentially, inevitably throw away. On the other hand, though, there hasn’t been any noteworthy new PS3 or Vita releases in quite some time.

Re-release of some games from previous consoles for the new machines is complete, but PS5 users can only play PS4 games, not PS3 games.
