Fortnite World Cup

Thousands of players have been banned for cheating in Fortnite World Cup which kicked off last weekend. Most of the people playing Fortnite were very excited for online open qualifiers for the World Cup because it’s a great channel for competition and scope for success. What is surprising is that Epic decided to put up $1 million each week for online open qualifiers.

1100 players were banned from competitive play for 14 days. This ban was for circumventing area bans and playing in multiple areas at the same time during a tournament. Including the number of 200 winners who had won their prizes.

Eight accounts were banned for teaming and 48 for account sharing, among them nine winners.

One account was permanently banned for using cheat software during the semi-finals. And one account was given a 72-hour ban for disconnecting intentionally to avoid giving points to another competitor.

With so much money at stake ($100 million), there will surely be many players who are desperate to try and cheat in order to make a quick buck at these tournaments. These will be all sorts of methods, but Epic Games plans on catching them all the same
