“The aim is for the EU to be a digital leader in an open and interconnected world, and to implement digital policies that enable citizens and businesses to benefit from a sustainable digital future with prosperity and people at its heart.” the European Commission said in a statement.
In the Recovery and Resilience Plans, Member States commit to allocate at least 20% of their spending to the technological priority and the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and other EU funding programmes will also help.
The EU’s “digital compass” includes four pillars:
1.Digital Skills
2.Digital Infrastructures
3.Digital Transformation
4.Digitilisation of public services
The governance framework bases on an annual cooperation and reports involving the Member States. The Commission builds necessary trajectories for each target together with the Member States and then propose a designed strategic roadmap for each country in particular to attain.
