Everything Google announced at I/O 2019

At this years Google I/O Conference, the company introduced several new developments, including smartphones, search and digital assistants. Below is a brief summary of all the company’sย  announcements. If you want to know more, don’t hesitate to watch the 1 hour and 43 minutes long Google IO 2019 video!

Search

Computer vision and augmented reality are developing quickly and you’ll soon be able to see 3D images in the search results for your app. For example, a search of a great white shark was done during the presentation and its 3D image was shown via augmented reality on the stage, in real size via your phone screen.

Google Lens has become increasingly smart, translating languages and giving more global news results. These are all helpful updates to the app’s services! Google Search now include Podcasts as well.

Google Assistant

The Assistant is getting a lot faster and better at understanding conversations thanks to a slew of upgrades. Google’s Duplex technology is changing the way brands interact with their customers. No more having to pick up your phone and call into a reservation line, now you can chat with Google’s AI about reservations, book plane tickets and more – all for free!

The new Assistant is now half the size than before. Advancements in machine learning have reduced their system requirements significantly. With this in mind, you should consider starting your conversations with them sooner rather than later. Google Assistant is now available on Android Auto, resulting in more personalized results based around your daily life. You’ll also be able to use it for even more events like sending a text message or setting up a meeting.

Security

Google has launched a new mode called “Incognito” on its apps that will allow you to have more control over their data collection and was introduced for Maps and Search. With “filters and auto-delete capability for web activity, app data and location data,” you can easily clean up what you feel may not need to be seen in your day-to-day interactions at work.

Android Q

Google is updating security features on the Play Store and will automatically make them available for your device. A new feature called “Live Caption” translates spoken words in real-time. The next version of Android will also feature dark mode, and many other helpful tools that are easy to use.

Pixel

Google’s new phones are the affordable versions of the Pixel 3. They trade some features for a lower price, but they still give you the best phone experience possible. The features include a few their camera and Night Sight. You can learn more about them by clicking here.

Google Nest Hub Max

Another new device from Google, featuring a 10-inch HD display, 6.5MP camera, works as a security device for monitoring. Its release will be this summer for $229, last year’s Hub changed name to renamed Home Hub and the price tag lowered to $99.
