Facebook’s digital assistant
It looks like Facebook is planning to make a digital assistant, focusing on competing with other companies such as Apple and Google.
CNBC reports that it has been in contact with a team based in Redmond that is working on various projects. Some of which are related to Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies.
This is not the first time that Facebook has experimented with creating digital assistants. There was a failed project last year called M, which has been abandoned. CNBC reports that Facebook has been developing the digital assistant for a while, since early 2018.
Facebook’s virtual assistant, which will work with its Facebook Portal video chat speaker device, is a big step towards establishing this smart speaker market.
Facebook has confirmed recent rumors. Facebook is thinking about creating an assistant that would allow you to use voice commands. This would completely eliminate the need to use your hands and optimize the experience with the social network as a whole. This will allow Facebook to use VR helmets, like Oculus, which shows that Facebook wants to make it easier for its users in the age of virtual reality.
