Facebook will partner with Ray-Ban

Facebook is reportedly entering into a partnership agreement with Luxottica to bring new smart glasses by 2025. To note, the partner company owns the Ray-Ban brand and makes glasses. The company has been developing a version of augmented reality glasses so as to improve their product gap. However, these glasses are still in the experimental phase at Facebook’s lab and have yet to see a commercial release. A report from CNBC says that the smart glasses developed were codenamed “Orion”. Their design, as expected, will be able to create a smartphone substitute in the future.

Sources say the smart glasses under development will allow telephone calls, display information on tiny screens. Of course they will allow live-streaming on social media. While Facebook is also developing a digital assistant with its own artificial intelligence, it will also be able to provide you with services such as watching movies, giving directions, and other tasks. With the smart glasses in place, you can just press a button on your belt buckle to access these services. It’s a great idea to experiment with this kind of device to provide more data sharing and recording than ever before. With the right team at work, there is a lot to look forward to.

Although the company employs hundreds of people in Redmond and has been developing augmented reality glasses for about a decade, it has not managed to reduce the size of the devices to a level that would make them functional for the average user. After the discussion on an online forum, CNBC claimed this sentiment. In the report, Mark Zuckerberg is seemingly showing interest in in the project and has asked the head of hardware, Andrew Bosworth, to prioritise it.

Other glasses on the market

It’s worth noting that similar proposals are already on the market. Microsoft’s HoloLens 2 headset, Spectacles from Snap (parent company of Snapchat) and Magic Leap One AR from the American startup Magic Leap are all examples. It is important to note that this technology is already on the market with similar products from companies like Microsoft’s HoloLens 2, Spectacles from Snapchat and Magic Leap One. The use of AI assistants in the workplace is a popular trend and Apple has shown interest in the sector too. They may enter the market soon, possibly within a year.

Luxottica, parent company of the famous brands Ray-Ban and Oakley, has been in the new technology sector for a while. They’ve helped with new technologies, large-scale projects and international projects before. In 2014, Luxottica partnered with Google and began developing the designer of their soon-to-be-released wearable devices called the Glass.
