Firefox warns for leaked passwords

Firefox warns for leaked passwords

Ideally passwords should be different, complex and very hard to remember guess. However, this is impossible and in reality most of us use only a few favorite passwords that are easy to remember.

Firefox has received some updates that improve password security to reduce the risk of a breach. Now, it will be able to detect when your password has been exposed or if you use a password that is identical to what was hacked this week.

Let’s say you have a user who used “123456” as their password and they realize that someone else is also using it on a compromised website. This person will be notified via the app in order to change their password. Because you usually only have to find their email address with the username as opposed to their password, it is easier for a user to recover.

They also reassure users by saying that Firefox doesn’t really know your password, but checks them against a database of known compromised sites and accounts. Finally, password saving is simple and automated through Firefox. Did you already know that Firefox warns for leaked passwords?
