Google organized the first “Think Mobile” event in Athens to explore mobile phones and their potential.
Grigorios Zafiropoulos opened the event. He is Google’s Country Manager for Greece, Cyprus and Malta. They discussed various topics such as the future of technology. Apart from that Google is presenting recent innovations in the world of mobile phones. Google Allo, a new smart messaging app, is soon to be released on Android and iOS. It combines all the features of a messaging app with the intelligence – and power – of AI technology.
At the event, Google showed the new capabilities provided through programmatic advertising and revealed how powerful video sharing is in mobile era thanks to YouTube. The latest data presented on the role of mobile in products everybody buys also caught a lot of people’s attention.
A study from Google shows that the path to purchase is not always linear and predictable. When people need to buy something, they will do their research before choosing a product. They will observe which brands and products meet their needs. Identify the most important selection criteria, and get the best offers in different purchase methods.
One case study of consumers’ clothing and footwear purchases suggests that many are buying in the moment – about 30% of respondents revealed that they make a decision in the same da. This category of shoppers are usually on their mobile phones when they’re shopping, with 26% making searches from them. The majority of respondents also watch videos about products they buy on their phone. The convenience of a mobile search is clear from this survey, with the benefits of being able to search anytime and anywhere without relying on your laptop. However, only 26% say they visited physical stores as a result.
Those interested in buying a laptop are more likely to do research on their mobile device compared to those who opt for buying on the internet. Research for m-commerce products seems higher than for other product categories. You can now see that 4% of purchases were completed via mobile phones in this category, while 51% of searches were completed when the person was physically at a store.
