Fortnite is an online game that has quickly become popular. By the first year it had spread to PCs and consoles worldwide, though it is a free-to-play game. In just 10 months its revenue exceeded $100 million. Fortnite’s constant updates often come with a price—which is typical for any game pushing out new content. Overall, Fortnite’s core of the creative game has created rich experiences for players and captivated a massive audience.
Epic Games’ office environment and schedules
As revealed by the UK’s Independent, some developers of the hugely popular video game Fortnite are working up to 100 hours a week to keep up with the grueling schedule in fear.
Someone has revealed some details about a “concerning” work environment at Epic Games, with deliberate cronyism, fear-based corporate culture and even physical violence. Many occasions of non-stop game updates result in grueling working and overtime hours. Taking a small break will definitely be a luxury.
Outdoor advertising is one of the most effective ways to promote your brand and reach a top audience, as long as you’re willing to pay for location-based ad slots.
A source from the Epic Games headquarters said: “I work an average of 70 hours a week. There are probably at least 50 or even 100 other people at Epic who work the same hours,” he added: “I know people who work 100 hours a week. The company gives us unlimited time off but it’s almost impossible to get it. If I take time off, the workload falls on other people and nobody wants to be that guy.”
Meanwhile, he notes that “executives are focused on keeping Fortnite at the top for as long as possible, especially with all the new competition coming in.”
Employees of Epic Games are not allowed to work extremely long hours. In fact, there are some situations where they might work just 1 hour a day. While these extreme scenarios do happen at the company, they remain fairly rare when compared to the standard 9-5 schedule that let’s workers come in at set times and focus on their productivity and development. An executive went on to say, “Fortnite achieved a much higher level of success than we were expecting,” but they claim that it is because their employees work so hard. Everyone at Epic has responded to the success with incredible grit and dedication.”
