Free EarPods removed by Apple
From the launch of the iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max and iPhone Mini, in September 2020, Apple has announced that it is removing the provision of a set of earpods in every iPhone box, to reduce waste. However from this move, the company has managed to increase sales of wireless airpods accessories and reduce the packaging costs of mobile phones.Nevertheless, in France, the sale of newer iPhone models with wired earphones in their packaging continued. The reason lies behind the French law that requires all smartphone companies to include free wired headphones in every mobile phone package. France considers the radio frequency energy absorbed by the brain, particularly during a telephone call, to be extremely harmful. Hence the amendment to the French law, which specifically called for a free accessory to be provided to minimise the risk. So Apple decided to go ahead with the production of special packaging that include wired accessories exclusively for France. All this was the case until today.

From the end of 2021, the French government decided to limit environmental waste. Consequently, the new amendement of French legislation aims to limit the environmental footprint left by digital technology. As a result Apple will stop offering the special packaging in France as of this week. If free headphones with your iPhone interests you, you need to catch up with the limited stock. We don’t hear very frequently of Apple offering free services. For various reasons now, the company will remove the pods from the phone package as well. With the free EarPods removed by Apple, what else do we expect?
