
90,000 personal data stolen
Personal data of 90,000 German Mastercard customers has reportedly been published online, like credit card numbers. Mastercard is suspending this offending corporate platform.
“Among other things, we immediately suspended the operation of the ‘Priceless Specials’ platform. That happened as soon as we became aware of the incident,” the financial services provider said in a statement, clarifying that. “We implement everything to investigate and resolve the problems related” to its partner.
Mastercard’s “Priceless Specials” loyalty program allows cardholders to save money with daily offers and discounts on services like car rental or outings.
As Manager Magazin reported, it became aware of a leak of data when a German Internet entrepreneur sent it a post on a forum containing the addresses, telephone numbers, names and bank card numbers of 90000 subscribers.
Neither the press nor Mastercard Germany revealed who these pirates were or their target.
This hack comes a month and a half after the hacking of the personal data of 106 million American and Canadian Customers of Capital One Financial. The police arrested an American hacker two weeks after the discovery of the hack for this action.
