Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2

Google has made its latest augmented reality headset, Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2, available for purchase after only selling it to a select few professionals for a year. Priced at $999 (911 euros), the device currently aims at developers who want to get an introduction to augmented reality and its potential.

That’s to say, not everyone is to use it on a daily basis. And even if they don’t, they’re still invited to try it out.

Google is likely to release their AR glasses in the manufacturing industry, but also into medical. It seems the latter will be more beneficial as they are not bulky, and the simplicity of Google’s design would make it a good fit. Jay Kothari, the head of the Google Glass development project, has even said that demand is growing.

This is the second version of Google’s professional AR headset and, unlike the first Google Glass released in 2014, has never became a commercial product. The second-generation model launched just recently in May 2019. It acquires a better processor, better camera, USB-C connectivity and Android OS. You can strap it to a pair of glasses and have the images show in your left or right eye.
