Google renews the Nest range

Google renews the Nest range

In the emerging “smart home” market, Google has focused on security. They announced new partnerships with device manufacturers, who will now be required to pass a test proving they are secure before gaining access to your Nest range network.

Also on the docket today, Nest unveiled another new Nest smart speaker called Sky. Sky has a light blue color and will be release on October 22. The Nest Mini also features a wall mount and an upgraded speaker system with an extra microphone. It has 1 TeraOPS of power for more powerful local computing, reducing the response time to instructions.

Nest Aware is a subscription that removes the maximum number of devices in billing. The standard plan will be available starting in 2020 and comes with two tiers: simple or plus. There is a direct call option in case of an emergency, including to fire services.

Nest WiFi is divided into two devices, the Nest WiFi Router and the Nest WiFi Point. They come in different colors so you can find one to suit your living room. The Nest WiFi app makes setting up a breeze. Google WiFi is twice as fast and offers 25% better coverage than Google’s earlier device, comfortably covering up to a 250-square-foot space.

The NestWifi point comes with a Google Assistant smart speaker built in so that you can play music, control smart devices and ask questions just like with the Nest Mini.

Google’s newest WiFi device, Nest, is a combination of their router and the Google Assistant. It will be available from November 4th with prices starting at $269 for 2 units, going up to $349 for 3.
