Alphabet – Parent company of Google ceases investments
Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has made an important decision. It has announced the cessation from the new year of its investments in technologies that track users’ individual navigation and, as a consequence, ads based on it.
The privacy issue that has arisen from the practices so far seems to have contributed to this decision. However, this decision will not only affect Google itself but also its competitors as , the company has the lion’s share of the online advertising industry.
Finally, therefore, the “third-party cookies” as announced, from now on it will use new practices, which it calls “privacy cushion”.
Some industry experts have suggested that the move may be an attempt to reduce the company’s dependence on advertising revenue, which has come under pressure in recent years due to increased competition and changes in consumer behavior.
Other analysts have pointed to the growing trend of companies divesting themselves of non-core assets in order to streamline operations and improve their overall financial performance.
It remains to be seen how the company will adapt to this new reality, and whether it will be able to continue its impressive track record of innovation and growth in the face of increased competition and changing market conditions.
