Patches affect new processors, Kaby Lake and SkyLake | Spectre and Meltdown patches

Problems have arisen for Kaby Lake and Skylake. Trying to fix the reboot problems brought by the Spectre and Meltdown patches, Intel also used newer processors and to its surprise, they showed the same behavior as the older ones. This means that the effects of the patches not only affect Broadwell and Hasswell processors, but also the newer Skylake and Kaby Lake processors.

There is a posticive side on the issue though. Intel Vice President Navin Shenoy said that they are very close to identifying the root of the problem. He also added that they will make a beta microcode available to manufacturers for validation. The microcode will be ready next week, according to schedule. The performance of many systems has taken a serious hit and Intel is working with companies to reduce the impact of the patches.
