Intel ‘s Ruler SSD with 1 PB capacity
Intel has unveiled three new types of SSDs. Data centers in the future will extensively useย that need to store huge amounts of data.
Intel unveiled a new “ruler” SSD with 3D NAND memories and 1 PB of capacity. It merges the company’s Enterprise & Datacenter Storage Form Factor (EDSFF) design and includes ruler-like features that fit into a 1U-size rack mount. For more information about this impressive storage device, visit Intel’s website.
The new Intel ruler SSD uses a “Gen-Z” connection, has up to 8 PCIe Gen3 lanes, and is able to push speeds up to 3.94 GB/s in both directions. The drive even supports PCIe Gen 5 speeds (32 GT/s), but there are no backward compatibility guarantees with previous versions of the X99 Express 1600W platform.
The next generation of disks is a new high capacity disk. It will be available with a variety of different density options, so it’s versatile and adaptive. The new drive has a design that fits side-by-side into the rack, creating space for 20 drives at once (for 20TB). The drives are equipped with LED lights on the front because administrators can see if they are damaged or offline
Intel SSD ruler drives are already a success in the sandbox that is market testing, and the technology is only gaining ground. Once they hit the general market, you can expect big changes.
Finally, Intel has unveiled a series of new SSDs.They are using cutting-edge technology, like SATA firmware and 32 layer 3D NAND memories and a dual port SSD that is ideal for backup. They will release this in the coming months.
