Amazon prepares the next YouTube

Both Amazon and Google are strong in their own way and there have been a lot of fights between the two companies. In order to survive in this competitive market, they’ll need to cooperate more. After refusing to sell Chromecast and Google Home devices through its online stores – presumably due to the production and sale of its own comparable devices -Amazon, and other streaming platforms, have been banning YouTube on devices like the Amazon Echo Show and Fire TV from December 31. They’ve published a warning in which they say that this will continue until January 1. On December 5, a warning made its appearance on Yarnsworld. This warning referred to the two trademarks that were just registered.

This is the registration of trademarks, AmazonTube and OpenTube. If the names alone don’t give you pause for thought, you only have to read their description: “(downloadable) content (consisting of) pre-recorded audio, visual and audiovisual works” where it will “allow users to share photos, videos, text, data, images and other digital works.” Does this ring a bell?

Registering a trademark only indicates your intention to protect the rights to it. The longer you register it, the closer you get to officially releasing a product or service with this name. It is still hard to tell if Amazon is serious or not with regards to their YouTube “bluff move.”The rumors that have been going on for a while are finally put to rest with the company agreeing to bring Google devices back online. This will put an end to speculations and reduce tension between the two tech giants.
