LG introduces a new TV

LG has unveiled at the CES in Las Vegas, US, a new smart TV with a specialfeature. It rolls up and unrolls through its base (roll-up). Screens that fold or roll up, which might be either for TVs or mobile phones, are a new technological trend at CES.

LG’s latest Signature model OLED TV R has a stunning 4K resolution 65-inch (165 cm) screen and can disappear completely inside its base, which also functions as a speaker. It unfolds only partially to display your photos and acts as a controlling blackboard for “smart” devices.

Representative’s statement

“What science fiction filmmakers imagined decades ago is now a reality. They bring the freedom of design into a space without the constraints of a wall,” said LG vice president David van der Vaal, according to Agence France-Presse and the BBC.

LG unveiled its first OLED TV with ultra-high 8K resolution, as well as an 88-inch device, touted as the largest OLED TV to date.

All new LG OLED models unveiled in Vegas this month include smart personal assistants from both Google and Amazon (as well as Apple’s AirPlay) to provide an even more immersive experience. This will allow users to not only chat with their TV but also stream content like music and videos from their iPhone or iPad.

The digital assistants will be accessed through the special ThinQ software developed by LG. By pressing a different button on the remote, you will choose which assistant you want to chat with. Samsung’s new TVs will offer access to virtual assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. However, they’ll prioritize Bixby.

LG didn’t give us any information about the prices of its new devices, but analysts have said that it’ll take a few years before they gain mass adoption.
