LG’s new strategy for AI technology

LG’s new strategy for AI technology

Dr. I.P. Park, President and Chief Technology Officer of LG Electronics, went over the future of AI. He underlined how it is going to be pivotal in the progression of human life. Today in his CES 2020 talk, titled “AI experience levels: The Future Of AI And Human Experience.”, analyzed important matters.

This framework is perfectly aligned with the LG ThinQ brand. Aligned with their vision of connecting all aspects of people’s lives through smart touchpoints.

Although it has not been made so yet, there is a clear plan for artificial intelligence. The aim is to create cohesion in the systems that tie together different services and products. AI is becoming a mainstay in the workplace, but it’s important to make that impact rather than just talking about it. We do this by applying algorithms to develop frameworks for the AI we want and need. This will help us make more significant advances in our industry.

Dr. Park joined on stage Jean-Francois Gagné, CEO of Montreal-based Element AI. The company has gained its reputation through the effective application of AI. They discussed the development of  “Levels of AI Experience” framework. Furthermore, another topic of discussion was the role of industry in the development of future technologies. AI experience (AIX) is a system that refers to the ways in which AI technology can fill the four levels of user experiences. These levels are Efficiency, Personalization, Logic, and Exploration. AI leads with significant leaps in technical capabilities.

Efficiency

“Efficiency” is the intrinsic level of AI-enabled devices and systems. These days, with the large voice recognition on the market and AI-enabled products, it’s possible to use simple commands to function them. At the level of AI, it automatically adjusts performance based on predefined sensors. It maximizes, thus, efficiency in user interactions. Dr. Park explained how the LG ThinQ air conditioner prevented people from being uncomfortable. It features an intelligent sensor that changes the temperature and airflow based on prediction of people in a room.

Personalization

Personalization is creating a database of all the information you need to optimize device operations. Gagné explained even the most near-sighted customers will quickly get their device set up how they want it. Devices and services with AI technology can gather data from interactions with the environment and users. Furthermore, they can identify patterns, and use them as an added tool to make tasks easier for individuals. Dr. Park explains how the next-generation LG R9 Robot Moth will work. Reportedly, it will be able to learn from mistakes it made by remembering its memory space

Logic

“Logic”, the third level, uses causal learning through the collective intelligence of a system consisting of different devices and services. Thanks to AI knowing how to identify behaviors, it can suggest tailored incentives. This in turn can help create a positive outcome that actually benefits the user. “Our diverse product portfolio means we can offer many intelligent interactions,” noted Dr. Park. “To understand the ‘why,’ we can measure what they are and gather data.”

Exploration

What the ultimate destination for LG’s AI will be is still not clear, but Dr. Park seems to think that it will happen in the fourth level. AI systems that learn through “Experimental Learning” will be able to develop new capabilities and formulate and test hypotheses. This method allows them to continue learning and improving, finding new conclusions and adding a lot of value for businesses.

As pioneers in AI, ElementAI is proud to bring their research and development to this important topic, including the importance of the human experience. This inspires them and fuels their drive towards further progress. “We’re excited to announce our work with LG Electronics to help set standards for the industry!”

Dr. Park is showcasing some of the AI innovations that LG has developed at CES 2020. The LG ThinQ Zone enhances your home by making it more smart and seamless, with a connected lifestyle that extends beyond the front door of your home. The company’s techniques and services can apply to different aspects of everyday life, delivering unprecedented value to customers

LG’s latest product, the LG ThinQ Smart Home device, enables users to access their door remotely. Not only does it have biometric capabilities built-in, but it also recognizes visitors through facial recognition. When you leave the house, smart door hardware will feature weather and traffic information when it is in “leave mode”. It will then turn off all appliances in the home when it’s on a vacation mode.

Personalized Car experience

LG will be introducing a new, more personalized in-car experience for drivers and passengers. The drivers and/or passengers of the car can use their phone to take a piece of home with them.LG’s connected car solution is based on the webOS Auto platform, developed in partnership with leading car seat manufacturer Adient. The interior of the vehicle is outfitted with a state-of-the-art TV and movie screens that allow you to continue watching your favorite programs. The “Personal Sound Zone” (Personal Sound Zone) offers a multimedia experience for each passenger. The “Virtual Personal Assistant” (Virtual Personal Assistant), on the other hand, activated by voice command, isolates and recognizes just your voice.

The ThinQ Fit Collection Zone allows guests to experience virtual fashion without having to enter the fitting room, taking away a lot of trial-and-error. LG has just invented something that is as cool as it is cutting-edge. They’re calling it the LG ThinQ Fit Smart Mirror, which uses 3D cameras to measure your body shape and build a realistic avatar to help you shop online. You’ll get fashion advice and links to all of your favorite stores on this new technology, too!

LG’s robots and machines at the CLOi Table Zone are impressive. They impress guests with their culinary skills, efficiency and quality service. This futuristic-looking restaurant is also highly efficient in managing the overall operation. They can make reservations, browse the menu and access their local restaurants using state-of-the-art technology.
