Netflix reached 167 million

167 million subscribers on Netflix

The company said it expects about seven million new subscribers in the first quarter of 2020. Asia has been their fastest-growing market for a while now despite the steady decline in US viewership.

For now, Netflix has not been seriously impacted by the emergence of competitors such as Disney+ and Apple. It is still too early to gauge how this war will play out as viewers’ eyes go back and forth

Last year, Netflix added 420,000 new subscribers in the USA and Canada in its fourth quarter. The predictions fell short though, of the estimated 600,000 new subscribers. That’s a sign that North American audiences are ‘fatigued’ of the service and they’re already sceptical they’ll renew their subscriptions. Netflix had $5.5 billion in revenue in the fourth quarter last year. The prediction gap the company attributed to the recent increase in subscription prices and to competitors like Hulu.

Netflix has been the reigning “king” of streaming worldwide for many years now. It’s growth may have diminished recently, but it will still have a huge presence in Hollywood and continue to adapt its programs according to the tastes of its viewers and subscribers.

The streaming war caught fire in November of 2019, when Apple TV+ and Disney+ debuted. They had lower subscription prices than Netflix to attract more customers. Competitors on the current “game” such as Amazon Prime, Hulu and Warner Media’s HBO Max are also present in the forecast, with May being its busiest month. 167milllion subscribers on Netflix, that is a nice number.

Netflix’s stock is down this year – a trend that worries investors on Wall Street. Netflix is betting on solid films such as Scarlett Johansson’s The Marriage Story, Scorsese’s The Irishman, and the British series Crown.

However, competitors will not be able to sit on their hands either. Disney, which has a long history in the entertainment industry and which will launch its own streaming service in Europe this year on March 24, while Apple TV+ is already available to more than 100 countries.

Netflix, expectedly, will have a tough year in 2020. Most analysts predict that it will be harder for the streaming company than 2019 Netflix is looking internationally to expand their content. That includes producing more productions in non-English languages To make that happen, it’s now setting up an office in Paris and’s invested heavily in dozens of new French series and films.
