Fortnite is a big competitor to Netflix
Research revealed yesterday that Netflix and HBO rivals Fortine for the amount of time users “spend” in front of a screen.
The comparison between the two seems odd, as they are quite different from each other. Netflix intends to grab as much of your screen time as possible, including smartphone usage. Fortnite holds a large percentage of the marketplace.
Competition between Netflix and other streaming services is tough but their goal is to overtake Fortnite which is currently at the top of video game trends.
It’s not hard to see the popularity of the game is bound to change. You could argue that new trends will arise as the user base changes.
Netflix is becoming more popular and has a lot new original content. As they continue to produce these assets, they’ll be increasing the number of people using it and talk about Netflix as much as any company. There is plenty of room for both Netflix and Fortine to may important roles in people’s time spent watching screens. They both have their advantages, but it’s still early to decide who will be the leader.
Although Netflix has the trends cycle on its side, Fortnite seems to be the top trend right now. New content has been consistently being created and it doesn’t seem like they are dropping the #1 spot anytime soon. It will be fascinating to see how long Fortnite stays on top, and also whether Netflix has had an impact on gaming over the past year.
