No animals have had much luck perceiving and processing visual stimuli until now because it was difficult to understand. But scholars have now developed a powerful new piece of software, QCP. It allows them to identify differentiating patterns across the color spectrum by measuring them in terms of intensity.
A group of scientists designed a program that removes all the irrelevant information from digital images so animals can see only what they’re looking for. This will have important implications for wildlife tracking research and conservation when it goes public in September.
The project that is still in Beta version and has no second one yet, is detailed in their paper in the journal Methods in Ecology and Evolution. As models became increasingly advanced, it was becoming harder and harder for forecasts to be accurate.
