As announced by JEDEC, the standard-setting organisation for memory now begun and will conclude in 2018. JEDEC also marke the development of the specification for next generation DDR5 memories.
DDR5 memories will be the successor to high-end DDR4 memories. They will be twice as fast and more efficient, helping cutting out a lot of time spent on inefficient systems. They can support twice as many gigabytes and the modules will be able to store higher densities making them twice as reliable.
The announcement to progress past DDR4 memory is surprising in light of what analysts predicted. But it is important to remember that we’re still far away from DDR5 being accepted as a common household item. Most likely, in the next few years, cheaper models will be available on tablets and then you’ll see them on higher-end phones.
