The Elektronska Industrija ad Niš holding company, since its foundation in the beginnings of 1990s, produced series of home and/or educational computers. Like most of the manufacturers at those times, Ei Niš produced limited units primarily for the local market. The Social Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), a socialist country, imposed strict import rules and supported the independence from foreign suppliers boosting the domestic computer development, among others.

Many companies attempted to produce microcomputers, but they were very expensive for home budgets. The price difference was more evident when compared to the foreign Commodor 64 and ZX Spectrum. Overall some 50 machined were built in this decade, until the IBM AT became widely available.

That was just a snapshot on the presentation of the techmuseum series. Indulge more into the history. Continue reading more about the present model, the Pecom 64 here. Alternatively, find more exciting stories like this one here.
