RED | Hydrogen One running the Snapdragon 835x ?
RED announced its first phone a few months ago: the Hydrogen One. It was only half a year since the announcement, but companies like Nokia and Sony have already started taking pre-orders. It’s safe to say that RED’s phone will be one of the most highly acclaimed phones of this or any other year. There is still a timeline that wants the phone to go into mass production and be released in the summer, but the company hasn’t given a definitive date yet.
RED CEO and founder Jim Jannard shared some new specs of the RED camera, which is now smaller than the average phone. America has agreed with mobile operators, which is hard to achieve for start-ups launching their new device. So far RED has been the only major player to make this notable achievement.
Features
We have no idea if this device is the new Snapdragon 835x or just a typo. They will have dual SIM slots and support a microSD memory card, so that’s good to know. This phone will have a large battery with 4,500 mAh and its display will be 5.7 inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. It will also have USB-C and headphone jack in addition to dual cameras on the front & back.
Some highlights of the product are its new display and cameras. The device will be able to playback holographic 4-view content with 3D images that change as you move your perspective. These new “4V” cameras will work on an iPhone for the first time. Soon, many more mobile phones will run 4V apps.
Jannard said there will be modular accessories that will come with the device, a battery pack and a “cinema grade camera module” that will record RAW video in RED’s R3D format in 2D only. Additional modules for enhanced 3D and 4V are in the works. RED is preparing a Hydrogen network where it will collect content from major studios and content providers.
Smartphone case made by RED costs $1,195, but we’re still unsure of its ability to provide protection. We’ll find out more in April when the first reviews come out.
We are waiting with anticipation more news on the device. Will the Snapdragon 835x be confirmed?
