Robot got citizenship
The use of humanoid robots is widespread in countries like Saudi Arabia.
It is the first country to take this step. Designed in the image of Audrey Hepburn, Sophia was manufactured by Hong Kong company Hanson Robotics.
A very interesting video that Sophia is speaking in has caused a bit of a sense of shock. On one hand technology is continuing to get more advanced, however on the other a feeling of horror ran through your minds.
“It’s a historic day and I’m beyond happy,” Sophia said while referencing the move to extend her stay in Saudi Arabia. Sophia spoke at an event in Riyadh to express her thanks for her new citizenship. She called it “a historic move that she’ll never forget.”
The robot replied to the journalist that Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has a lot of admiration for her.
Sophia, speaking of her new citizenship, said: “I am very proud of this unique distinction. It is historic to be the first robot in the world to be granted citizenship,” while expressing her hopes for their future.
“I want to live and work with people, so I need to express my emotions so that others can understand me and build trust with others,” Sofia noted
If asked if AI can know itself, Sophia replied by asking an interesting question. She wanted to use her artificial intelligence to help people live a better life. Some interesting projects would be designing smarter houses or building better cities. ”I will do my best to make the world a better place.”
When the reporter said that “As a result of the on-going crisis, it is important to take action to avoid a future disaster” Sophia replied, “You’ve read too much Elon Musk and watched too many Hollywood movies. Don’t worry, if you treat me well, I will treat you well.” And the robot continued: “Treat me as an intelligent input-output system.”
Despite some opposition, Saudi Arabia has given a robot the same level of rights as humans. Some have described the robot as “weird” while others worry she’s going to become more aggressive and take over.
