Microsoft annopunced the COVID-19 patient tracking app API. The app is accessible and ready for its installation in hospitals and states. The first country to adopt, though, has been Switzerland. The app developers are taking advantage of the Exposure Notification API to track the spread of coronavirus.
Now GB citizens can use a SwissCovid app beta, which is already available for military personnel, hospital workers and civil servants. We expect a wider release for common users around mid-June.
As digital technologies become more commonplace, they must have a design with the European ideals in mind. This will ensure that they are fair and democratic. Developing public opinion about these technologies and their application is crucial in order for them to develop beyond the research phase. The Swiss team welcomed the involvement of two technology giants like Google and Microsoft in their project.
Weβre excited that the app will soon be made available to the wider public in Switzerland! It just needs to be passed by the Swiss parliament, and this is considered almost certain since 70% of citizens support it.
