Boot Camp released | Game changing move by Apple | Techday, April 5th
On this TECHDAY, on April 5th 2006, Apple releases Boot Camp, the application that allows the simultaneous use of Windows and MacOS on the same Apple computer, as long as it is based on the Intel platform. Boot Camp partitioned the computer’s hard drive, installing the corresponding version of the operating system on each of the partitions. The program has been instrumental in the success of the new Apple-Intel platform since 2006.
It was first available as a beta version in Mac OS X 10.4.6 Tiger, officially released as a finished product in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Since then, Boot Camp has been included with every version of Mac OS X and is now known as macOS. It has been consistently updated by Apple to support the latest versions of Windows and new Mac hardware.
Now, it comes with every Mac with an Intel processor and allows users to install and run Microsoft Windows on their Mac. This allows Mac users to use Windows-only software and games on their Mac, as well as access to features that may not be available on the Mac operating system. With Boot Camp, users can install Windows on their Mac and switch between the two operating systems whenever they want. The utility guides users through the process of installing and provides all the necessary drivers to ensure that their Mac hardware works properly with Windows.
