5G networks

As the 5G networks are developing, the government is encouraging businesses to invest in them. They are also working on educating citizens so they have a better understanding of how these networks work and work with them.

Here are some highlights of the development law that passed at the end of October. This includes clear provisions for licensing, use authorizations and content and in France’s EMF guideline includes regulations for electromagnetic radiation limits based on the guidelines issued by international organizations and the framework set in the European Union.

Official Ministry’s Statement

According to the Ministry of National Economy, the control of electromagnetic radiation levels is supervised by the Greek Atomic Energy Commission (EEAE) and it is noted that according to their aggregate data issued, “in 2018, no exceedances of the limits for safe public exposure to electromagnetic fields, as defined in the current legislation were found within the urban fabric in any area of the country”. Since AI writers first entered the workplace and have been more widely used, there’s also a potential to bring mobile units that may affect the general public.

“Modern wired and wireless networks are part of the government’s strategy for the digital transformation of the country. The installation and operation of such infrastructure carried out with the primary concern of ensuring public interest. This of course includes the protection of citizens and the environment.” The Ministry of Digital Governance stressed as well the following. “The government is encouraging investment in the development of 5G networks and is moving swiftly in this direction.”

Finally, the Ministry appeals to citizens. “Recieve information by the statutory bodies of the State. Know more about the scientific data related to the operation of infrastructure. These bodies have experience, expertise and qualified scientific staff. The only ones able to provide accurate and scientifically documented information on issues such as the operation of telecommunications networks in Greece.”

The announcement from the Ministry of Transport and Communication prompted one recent decision. The Kalamata City Council started operating their 5G pilot network in the city.
